Syddansk Universitet (SDU)

Danish Centre for Health Economics (DaCHE) is one of the largest centres for health economics in the Nordic countries. DaCHE researchers are dedicated to applying economic theory and empirical methods to answer research questions of high relevance for health policy, and to contribute to the improvement of research methods. Research themes at DaCHE are health-related behaviour, incentives and motivation; understanding barriers and facilitators that hinder/enhance equity in health and access to health care; eliciting patients' and the public’s preferences and values; and evaluating effects of new interventions/policies in health care. DaCHE researchers apply a broad set of research methods including register-based analysis, and enrichment of register data through the collection of survey data.

Meet the Team

Dorte Gyrd-Hansen

Dorte Gyrd-Hansen is Professor of Health Economics at the Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark and leads the Danish Centre for Health Economics (DaCHE). Previous positions include professorships at the University of Queensland and Copenhagen Business School, and a position as Director of Research at the Danish Institute of Health Services Research. Dorte Gyrd-Hansen’s research focuses mainly on experimental health economics and behavioural economics. Dorte Gyrd-Hansen has participated in several largescale European projects and is also engaged in influencing national health policy. She is a member of the Danish Medicines Council and the Danish Scientific Council of Prevention.

Trine Kjær

Trine Kjær holds a professorship in Health Economics at Danish Centre for Health Economics (DaCHE), University of Southern Denmark. Trine Kjær is a leading expert in stated preferences methods in health. Her primary research interests are within behavioral health economics where she applies survey and experimental methods, enriched with register data, to improve our understanding of determinants of citizens’ and patients’ preferences for health. Trine has extensive experience in working in cross-disciplinary teams and networks – nationally as well as internationally – and has partaking in several large-scale projects.

Line Bjørnskov Pedersen

Line Bjørnskov Pedersen is employed as Associate Professor at the Danish Centre for Health Economics (DaCHE), Department of Public Health and as Senior Researcher at the Research Unit for General Practice, University of Southern Denmark in Odense where she is research group leader for the research group "Organisation in General Practice". Line Bjørnskov Pedersen’s research focuses on the wellbeing of health care professionals and the link to their provision of care. She is also experienced in conducting discrete choice experiments.

Anne Sophie Oxholm

Anne Sophie Oxholm is employed as an Associate Professor at DaCHE – Danish Centre for Health Economics at University of Southern Denmark. Her research focuses on the supply-side of the market for healthcare services. More specifically, she uncovers how different incentive structures and provider characteristics (e.g., their motivational profiles) impact provision of care. Her research is quantitatively driven using data from both administrative registers, surveys, and laboratory experiments.
