Radboud University Medical Centre (Radboudumc) is a broad, internationally-oriented university, combining excellent education (20,000 students) with leading-edge research. The Radboudumc is one of the largest academic medical centres in the Netherlands, with approximately 11,100 employees and 609 hospital beds. It functions as the medical faculty of the Radboud University. The Radboudumc aims to have a significant impact on healthcare by providing excellent quality of care and research with a focus on participatory and personalised healthcare. The participating department of the Radboudumc in the project is part of the Radboud Institute for Health Sciences (RIHS). RIHS is a research institute at the cutting edge of clinical and healthcare science that aims to innovate and personalise healthcare and public health.
The Chair for Quality and Safety of Oral Healthcare at Radboud University Medical Centre, headed by Professor Stefan Listl, is an internationally highly reputed academic institution with unique expertise at the intersect of quality improvement, health economics, and implementation science. The group’s research activities comprise both quantitative and qualitative research methods and are primarily focused on:

Quality improvement science: development of quality indicators and design of interactive feedback systems to foster reflective learning within care teams and health policy.

Meet the Team
Stefan Listl
Stefan Listl is a dentist and economist. He is full professor in Quality and Safety of Oral Healthcare at Radboud University (Netherlands), director of the Translational Health Economics Section at Heidelberg University (Germany), and an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania (USA). Stefan serves as coordinating PI for the Horizon Europe projects PRUDENT (Prioritization, Incentives and Resource Use for Sustainable Dentistry) and DELIVER (Deliberative Improvement of Oral Care Quality). Stefan is a member of the Lancet Commission on Global Oral Health and was on the Steering Committee for the WHO Global Oral Health Status Report. He previously served as a consultant for Harvard University's Malaysia Health Systems Reform project, and contributed to the FDI World Dental Federation Vision 2030 report as well as the NIH Report on Oral Health in America. He is author of more than 120 journal publications, including in Lancet, Nature, Bulletin of the WHO, Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, American Journal of Epidemiology, American Journal of Public Health, Social Science & Medicine, and Journal of Dental Research. He is editorial board member for the Journal of Dental Research and the Journal of Evidence-based Dental Practice and regularly reviews for journals and funding institutions.
Ingrid Janssen-Leenders
Ingrid Janssen-Leenders holds a bachelor's degree in commercial economics and a post-graduate degree in business administration. She has extensive experience in business services, of which in recent years as an account manager for companies at a large commercial bank in the Netherlands. Has been working at RadboudUMC for 2.5 years and has been appointed project manager of Prudent since 1 April. Very excited to be able to supervise this project.
Ziade Sarroukh
Ziade Sarroukh is a PhD Candidate at the department of dentistry at the Radboud University Medical Center since 2022. He holds a Master of Science in Health Economics, Policy and Law, with a specialization in Health Economics, from the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management. His research interests are provider payment models and health technology assessment. His work focuses on the political economy of quality improvement in oral health policy, deliberative health technology assessment processes, and the evaluation of alternative provider payment models for dentists. This work forms part of the ‘DELIVER’ and ‘PRUDENT’ projects, supervised by Prof. Dr. Stefan Listl and Prof. Dr. Patrick Jeurissen.
Jip Janssen
Jip Janssen is a PhD candidate at the Department of Dentistry within the Radboud University Medical Center, starting in 2023. He holds a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences with a specialization in Health Technology Assessment and Consultancy, obtained from the Radboud University. Jip’s research interests primarily lie in the fields of health economics, public/global health and policymaking. As part of the 'PRUDENT' project, his work focuses on oral health workforce planning, evaluating health system reforms and conducting priority setting and resource allocation (PSRA) analyses in the field of dentistry. Supervision is provided by Prof. Dr. Stefan Listl and Prof. Dr. Rob Baltussen.
